Hello my name is Robert Rygiel and I am running for Tallassee City Council Ward 1.

I am employed with Neptune technologies group as a model maker. I am married to Laurie Rygiel who is the owner of HR Management Solutions in Tallassee.  We have two children; Andrea who graduated from Tallassee high school and is attending Southern Union Community College in Wadley, Al. and our son Robi is a student at Southside Middle School.

I am an active member of the community where I coach Dixie Youth Baseball and Tallassee Youth Football.  As a long time member of the Tallassee Athletic Club; I help cook at the Friday night football games. Also a representative on the Comprehensive Planning Committee for Tallassee assisting to develop tourism and recreation.  I served in the Navy and was in Desert Storm.

I am running for councilman so I can be the voice of Ward 1.  From speaking with people of Ward 1 and within Tallassee; they see the need to expand in the areas of retail and small businesses.  As well as bring some more restaurants to town.

Tallassee has a wealth of historical sites which should be taken advantage of like the old Mt.Vernon Theater, Seven gables, and the superintendent’s house.  As well as events like the Battle for the Armory, trade day, and develop more to bring people to visit Tallassee. This would help the retail and restaurant owners, the community as a whole.

In speaking with people in town, one of the biggest complaints is the people do not have much to do. I would like to see the new recreation center built so people of all ages will have a place they can go and take advantage of the activities it will bring.

I think we need to make a plan for the growth in are schools so we can keep Tallassee school as a leader in the area.

As an active member in my church, I help with the sound system and the maintenance committee.

With my good Christian values and love for Tallassee, I can bring great ideas to Tallassee while maintaining its deep historic roots.
